We must reduce expenses at the top:

  1. Reduce the excessive use of city vehicles. Resume the use of a true rolling stock committee with full transparency to the public.

  2. Initiate action to consolidate departments that currently duplicate services.

  3. Coordinate services with the School District Develop a comprehensive action plan to eliminate wasteful spending.

  4. Professional Outreach. We must reach out to the enormous talent and wealth of professionals in our City to assess our challenging issues ahead. We can then address our challenges together, with all our residents in mind. These issues include: severe budgetary issues, open space, excessive taxation, Gedney dump, pension costs, wasteful spending and reduction of services.

  5. Prioritize the City's capital expenditures.

  6. Work with Mayor and other Council members to do proper and intelligent financial forecasting. We should not budget based on sales tax revenues during peak financial times while the market is anticipating a downturn. Prudence is necessary.

  7. Resume the scheduling of independent audits of each City department on a periodic basis. Other than financial audits, the city has not conducted internal audits in many years. These audits are to assist departments heads in improving efficiency and develop new modern procedures.

“As Director of Information Services, I worked on several projects collaborating with the White Plains School District. The City supplied the school district with network services, IT consultation, and collaborative purchases for IT hardware saving the tax payers millions.” “Political diversity is important. Our government needs transparency, debate and open discussion. We must not issue a blank check.”

It is not necessary to reduce services.

It is necessary to eliminate wasteful spending.
